Icelandic Winter tour

This winter adventure tour shows you this northern Winter Wonderland through the eyes of Icelanders. You will get a mix of the city and the highlands in one weekend! This special tour is guided by Icelanders who have passion for winter travel. The tour takes place in uninhabited areas of Iceland far away from civilization. We use modified 4x4 self-drive vehicles (Land Rover Defender 110, bigger tires 38“, Snorkel, VHF radio intercommunication, GPS, air compressor) which were especially designed for demanding terrain. With these vehicles participants make their way through the snow covered highlands, cross unbridged rivers into Thorsmörk and visit famous attractions such as the National Park Thingvellir, the Geysir area and Gullfoss waterfall. The travellers are accompanied by a professional driver guide ensuring safety and giving them detailed information about the country, its nature and culture. We stay overnight in a countryside hotel overlooking Eyjafjallajökull and Thorsmörk. If we are lucky we will enjoy a beautiful northern light show above in the dark skies. An adventurous holiday and a very special winter offer! Please note that weather- and road conditions may affect the chioce of the route taken, but no less fun! Our staff will pick you up in the morning from your hotel in Reykjavik and bring you to our headquarters. Before the tour starts we will hold a briefing on off-road techniques and driving skills in Iceland, the car equipment as well as discussing the program. We board the ISAKs driving out of town east towards the 1000 Water Way. You will practise and learn the basics about driving in snow and in water by crossing unbridged rivers. Then it is time to stop the engine a bit and take a walk to a secluded nature bath and soak yourself in warm natural water. Following this unique bathing experience you will continue to the glacier valley Thorsmörk. Thorsmörk is surrounded by 3 glaciers, Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tinfjallajökull. The most famous one Eyjafjallajökull when it eru In the morning after breakfast we head down to he unique black beaches of South Iceland and try some fun beach driving.
